Brian Connor

Brian Connor is a Class AA Professional and level lll coach. He is the founder of House of Golf. Born on the Isle of Bute on the West Coast of Scotland he has been in the golf industry since the age of 10 when he first became shop assistant at his home course of Rothesay.

A move 'down south' took him to Henley-on-Thames where he played much of his golf as a young assistant on golf courses such as Wentworth and Sunningdale. At the age of 19 years he moved to Shaw Hill Golf and Country Club in Chorley, where he became qualified as a PGA Professional.

A short but happy stint at both Heaton Park and Brookdale Golf Club started off Brian's reputation as a retailer to be reckoned with. It was at this time that Brian started to look seriously at the concept of custom fitting.

In 1987 Brian became the Professional at Manchester Golf Club and the rest, as they say, is history. During the past 21 years, Brian and his staff have created a golf establishment that is respected throughout the UK. They are second to none when it comes to golf retail, custom fitting, club renovation and tuition. The advent of the new Golf Performance Centre in 2008 will take House of Golf to another level in the golf industry.

Brian is very proud of his team of staff at House of Golf and he would like to introduce you to them and their area of expertise.

Stan Whitehead

Stan Whitehead is the House of Golf Shop Manager, he specialies in Custom Fitting. Stan has been with the House of Golf for the last 20 years. A single figure handicapper for most of his golfing career, Stan is exceptional in providing just what a golfer is looking for, along with top rate customer service.

During those twenty years Stan has gleened considerable knowledge from visits to the factories of today's leading golf manufacturer's. One of those visits was to Ping in Arizona! Stan tells us - 'One of the main reasons for my visit to Arizona was for Ping to show me just how important custom fitting is to a golfer, and then to show me how to custom fit correctly. The experience and knowledge that I gained during that time was invaluable, and has certainly stood me in good stead for all the fittings that I have done since then – and they have been considerable! This is why I can confidently say that whether you are a man of 6ft 9, or a lady of 4ft 6, we can supply golf clubs to fit you.'

Amongst his many and varied skills Stan is also the man to speak to about Personalised or Corporate Products. He is undoubtedly a golfer's professional.

Peter Lynch

Peter Lynch is the House of Golf Club Repair and Modification Specialist, he has been in this position for the past twenty years.

During this time Peter has completed both the Dynacraft and Golfsmith courses and is classified as a 'Qualified Clubmaker and Master Craftsman.' He has carried out repairs for a number of tour professionals including Nick Dougherty who would visit Peter with his dad Roger to get his clubs tweaked or repaired. Also Jack Nicholas (Jnr) who used to come to Hopwood to pre-qualify for the Open - apparently Peter was the only guy, other than for the guys on the 'Tour Van' that young Jack would let near his clubs! Peter is also a qualified engineer.

Steve is also a V1 golf academy faculty coach which allows him to perform lessons via the internet to students anywhere in the world.

During his 10 years as a professional Steve has worked at 3 golf clubs in the Chester area, and also at Wirral Ladies GC. In his previous spell as Teaching Professional at Vicars Cross he designed the indoor teaching facility and established the golf club as a golf foundation starter centre and contributed to the club being given the R & A golf mark award. Steve's '100% total golf coaching' has enabled him to teach golfers of all levels from beginner to touring professional.

Steve also has 10 years experience in custom fitting and 12 years experience of golf retail. I am sure that he will be a great addition to our team and that House of Golf customers will benefit greatly from his knowledge.
